A ‘Time to Talk’ event was held on Friday, 9 February in the Sixth Form Centre and followed the format of the national campaign to highlight mental health awareness.
The Sixth Form Centre became a no-mobile zone and students were encouraged to spend their break and lunch time chatting face to face with their friends, whilst enjoying a hot drink and biscuits.
In addition, statistics, where to go to seek advice (both in school and outside school) and messages from people supporting the campaign with tweets etc (politicians, celebrities, royals) were published around the building.
It was really nice to see the students engaging so well with the day and the Sixth Form Centre was busier than ever. Mental health affects at least one in four of us and is an area that the Sixth Form is keen to address – and to ensure that students know where they can get support if they need it.
