SATS in Schools by Elliott

Pupil taking Key Stage 2

Pupil taking Key Stage 2

Sats are tests that give you an insight into how a school is progressing and improving. These tests were taken by children in year 6 and 9. These were usually set at the end of the year and then would be sent away to be marked. However months ago the schools secretary Ed Balls stopped the Sats tests for key stage 3(14 year olds) because of the fiasco of marking last years papers.

We interviewed a boy called Stephen at Lytchett Minster School on his views about the Sats, he told us that, “I think that the Sats are a good idea, however I think that getting rid of the Sats is also good because too much pressure is put on the pupils doing well in them when a small, simple test could give the same results”. In light of Stephens’s views I believe he is right. So what are your views?
