Mobile Phones

Mobile phones have become an obsession for most youths in their day to day life. This article is going to show how youths owning a mobile phone is either a good thing or a downfall to their daily life.

Firstly mobile phones are being used by our youths. Most youths aged ten to sixteen plus have a mobile phone. Danielle aged 17 says "I felt as if I needed to get my first mobile phone at 11, as all my friends had one and I felt slightly left out when we went out together." this quote shows that some youths feel pressured into getting a mobile phone because their friends have one. Mobile Phones are not needed in our youths lives but are just there for an accessory or to make them fit in with the crowds.

On the other hand, some youths aren't allowed a mobile phone until a certain age due to their parents. Shannon 14 says "I had to wait until I was 11 for my first mobile phone, in which I appreciate my parents for making me wait because if I had owned a mobile before that age, I feel like I would have lost it" this shows that youths don't particularly need a mobile phone until they feel confident in not loosing it, and when they start going out more by themselves without an adult present. Jo aged 38 (a mother herself) says "mobile phones are a good idea if the teenagers are going out by themselves and are for emergencies but apart from that they are not needed" this shows that mobile phones are not essential in everyday life.
