Who are we?

Lytchett Minster School is a unique school and offers its students a very special experience of secondary education. It stands on an exceptionally beautiful site in the Dorset countryside. In addition to the Manor House that lies at its heart, the recently completed building programme ensures that students are able to study in bright and airy classrooms with state of the art facilities.

Over the years it has developed an excellent academic reputation with examination results being consistently high at all levels. Previous students have also gone on to achieve a disproportionately high number of higher degree class results. This tradition is balanced by a wide range of extracurricular opportunities available to students. Sport, music and drama feature prominently in the life of the school and each year there are many visits and trips both locally and abroad.

It also helps us to work in close partnership with parents to ensure that children are happy and successful at the school. Our aim is to provide an environment that is safe yet stimulating in which students can flourish.

As of 1st April 2006, Lytchett Minster became a Training School. The work of our Training School is integrated into our school improvement plan.

As a Training School, we seek to innovate and develop in a number of key areas including whole staff training, CPD for teachers and the wider workforce, leadership training, research and teacher training. We aim that all developments focus on and have impact on teaching and learning.

What are Training Schools?

Training Schools demonstrate excellent practice across the range of teacher training activities, especially in initial teacher training and the continuing training of the whole school workforce. They are ambitious, imaginative and influential in these areas. They work collaboratively with others for the benefit of staff and pupils beyond their own boundaries.
