Assessment for Learning

Tony Perry

AfL Co-Ordinator

Assessment For Learning is the process of interpreting evidence of where students are in their learning so that teachers and students can decide what they need to do to progress and how best to do this.

For students to be more independent learners they need to know where they are in their learning, what to do next and how to get there.

As a school we have developed Assessment for Learning by looking at the following strategies:

  •  Stating clear Aims and Objectives

  •  Using effective plenaries

  •  Modelling success

  •  Sharing assessment objectives

  •  Self assessment

  •  Peer assessment

  •  Formative written feedback

  •  Formative oral feedback

  •  Dialogue and Learning conversations

  •  Different ways of using examination questions.

Should you wish any further information, please contact our AfL Co-Ordinator, Tony Perry.

Thank you.
