Year 7 Catch Up 2015 to 2016
Lytchett Minster School was allocated £17,000 in funding as part of the Year 7 Catch Up initiative.
Literacy and numeracy support is provided through small group intervention.
Year 7 catch up funding has in the past been directed towards those Year 7 students who need greater support with their literacy and numeracy skills. In 2015/2016 funding went directly towards our Year 7 literacy support programme and Year 7 Maths mentor.
Results analysis of the achievement of the students involved in this programme shows that the programme had the following impact:
In Maths 27 students were supported with their maths through our mentoring programme. 63% made 2+ sub levels of progress with 33% making 3 or more.
In Literacy support, 21 students were supported through small group lessons.
72% made 2+ sublevels of progress with 56% making 3 or more.
Year 7 Catch Up 2016 to 2017
Year 7 catch up funding will now be directed solely towards improving students’ numeracy skills and will fund a specific group. Progress will be measured according to progress with Maths skills as well as through students’ Maths threshold.
